But the war with Ukraine shows no signs of abating after 3 months, both sides digging in for a longer war. Sanctions against Russia have devastated economic growth, hurling average Russians into uncharted territory. The future of Russia unfolds in the news day after day in what appears to be a long siege on Ukraine. A BRIEF HISTORY The area that is now Russia has been inhabited by people for thousands of years. From June 16-19, 1963, Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman to travel into space - at the age of 26. Tereshkova was born in 1937 to a farm family in Maslennikovo, a village on the Volga River. Feedback, generally, went something like this: “The continuous cycle of what one interviewee referred to as the “Girl Scout badges 03 phenomenon”—women needing to constantly overcome being doubted, discounted, or even ignored altogether and “get a badge” to move forward in their work—can put women in an uncomfortable and tiring position, which likely contributes to attrition and pay inequality among women in AI. As one interviewee put it, “women should not need permission” to perform their work in AI.” Clearly there is work to be done with female engagement and representation in AI. AI will be made better through diversity and companies, policy makers and academics acknowledge this fact. But it will take time. “A lot of the perception…

What is Artificial Intelligence? Artificial intelligence leverages computers and machines to mimic the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of the human mind. The birth of the artificial intelligence began…
Do you know that 2 of every 3 Australians will have skin cancer by the time they are 70? The summer sun is warming and welcome. Enjoying time outside with friends and family is the goal for short summer months. The sun is essential to pretty much all life on Earth, providing warmth and light to plants and animals. It even delivers vitamin D3 to your body, and improves your mood. Between climate change and the regular solar cycle (expected to reach a peak in July 2025), we must acknowledge that “the warming we are witnessing is too rapid to be linked to the Earth’s orbit, and too large to be caused by solar activity.[1] ” It’s getting hotter and exposure to the sun and heat grows alongside in many…
