Festive spirit – without the booze!
‘Tis the season of merriment... but for those who want to indulge without the alcohol, options can be limited. With increasing numbers of Kiwis turning their backs on booze, having a good mocktail recipe or two is helpful.
One of our favourites for this time of year is the chilled mulled mocktail – a twist on the classic mulled wine. Cool, refreshing and without a side of drunken regret, it is a sure-fire drinks party hit.
To make, combine in a saucepan 2 litres of red grape juice, 4 strips of orange zest, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 cinnamon sticks, 12 cloves, 3 fresh bay leaves and 2 sprigs thyme. Simmer for 10 minutes, ensuring the mixture doesn’t boil. Cool, refrigerate until cold, then…
