World Cup season is back, starting with a Stage 1 World ranking event in Central Florida, USA, the first-time host. The event took place in Auburndale city, from April 8 to 13th. Great Britain’s Penny Healey started the outdoor season with a bang, taking the women’s recurve champion title against the veteran Alejandra Valencia of Mexico, thus booking the finals spot to be held later this year in Nanjing, People’s Republic of China, on October 17 – 19. The home of the legendary figure of Robin Hood, Nottingham, will once again play host to The GB National Tour Finals. The event will take place on the last weekend of summer, on 30 – 31st of August, at the historic Wollaton Hall, where there will be plenty of activities for spectators of all ages. The GB National Tour Finals will be preceded by the six qualifying stages, taking place at various dates between April 26th to August 10th, at various locations, including the home of British archery, Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire, and other Archery GB venues in Barnsley, Surrey and Oxford. Stage 2 of the World ranking event, the Hyundai Archery World Cup, returned to Shanghai, China for the fifteenth time; the event was held on 6 – 11th of May. This time it was the GB’s compound division duo that impressed on the world stage! Ella Gibson and Ajay Scott grabbed the mixed team gold against Batuhan Akcaoglu and Hazal Burun of Türkiye. International judge, Alec Potts was elected as the Archery GB’s president; the announcement was broadcast during the annual general meeting on April 26th. Potts is to serve a four-year term in this role. Chair Mark Briegal said: "We're very excited to be able to call on Graham’s vast archery experience around the globe and nationally, as our new president." Graham Potts is a multi-game international judge and was the only British International judge at London 2012. The AGB president is not directly involved in the day-to-day organisational work, direct decision-making, or voting – these would be the duties of the AGB director. Archery Fit, the indoor archery club in Greenwich, London, known for being open every day of the week, was founded by Roman and Kate Godkin (former, Zalyubovskaya), and was highlighted by World Archery as a unique indoor archery club: “Archery Fit, is something new.
