I’M LOOKING FOR A UNICORN—THE PERFECT BOAT. The perfect one for me, at least. ¶ Naturally, it needs to do everything well. When I sold my last boat in 2016, it was a hard decision. For more than 15 years, I had owned something to call my own and mess around on when time was available and the feeling hit me. ¶ I’m very fortunate to have boating friends who are generous and frequent with their invitations to come along as a guest and/or crewmember. So don’t worry—I get plenty of opportunity for time on the water. The Custom Line 140 is set to become the Italian builder’s new flagship. Custom Line says the superyacht is designed with a high-speed displacement hull, which—when matched to a pair of 2,638 mhp MTU 16V 2000 M96L diesels—should help provide a 21.5-knot top-end speed. Draft will be 7 feet, 7 inches with a range of 700 nautical miles. The yacht’s main deck includes a 322-square-foot salon and 322-square-foot master stateroom. BUILDERS CAN COME UP WITH a lot of ways to make a yacht stand out at the marina. With Stefania, which is Hull No. 2 of the GTT 135—still available for purchase as of this writing—Dynamiq’s primary play was the exterior paint scheme. It’s not every day that you see metallic gold and brown cruising into an inlet. ¶ But surprises await inside too in terms of the decor and down in the engine room. ¶ In the pilothouse, Dynamiq worked with German vehicle outfitter Klassen to develop a bespoke wheelhouse, finished in the same quality and style of the company’s luxury shuttle vans (think sporty trim and high-end finishes). THERE IS A LOT OF TALK THESE DAYS about the need to rebuild infrastructure. Florida’s Town of Palm Beach Marina is leaning into that thinking, having just completed a $40 million upgrade. ¶ The marina has been popular with transient and local boaters alike since it was built in the 1940s. It is steps away from the Worth Avenue shopping district and is now equipped to welcome yachts from 60 to 294 feet. ¶ The marina’s official reopening is November 1, with annual, seasonal and transient reservations being accepted. All guests receive complimentary access to an oceanfront par-3 golf course, health-and-wellness facilities, and premier tennis courts. ¶ “Palm Beachers expect the best,” says assistant town manager Carolyn Stone, “and that’s what we’ll have when the completely upgraded and renovated marina…

Hull No. 1 of the Hinckley 35 was delivered in August, and the yacht made its official debut at September’s Newport International Boat Show in Rhode Island. The Maine-based builder worked with Florida’s Michael Peters Yacht Design to create the model, which is powered by twin 300 hp Mercury Verados or Yamaha outboards (350s are optional). Features include Hinckley’s ClearView windshield, which is a single pane for unobstructed visibility, and joystick controls at the varnished-teak helm station. There’s a V-berth belowdecks for naps on the hook, and a cockpit hatch accesses stowage that’s big enough for beach chairs, bicycles or anything else owners care to bring aboard. South Africa-based Robertson and Caine builds Leopard Catamarans, which come in power and sail models. The Leopard 46 Powercat is the second model in a new generation of power designs that also includes the Leopard 53 Powercat. On the 46, there are queen-plus berths in all the staterooms. A new feature is at the after end of the salon, where the galley is to port and a “galley server area” is now to starboard. It can be used for stowage and houses a wine chiller or ice maker, along with a dedicated locker for drinks. There are separate engine rooms completely apart from the guest areas, and the main helm is forward on the flybridge, under the hardtop.
