I ITALY’S MONTE CARLO YACHTS EXPANDED ITS lineup this past year with the MCY 70 Skylounge, and it’s adding to its offerings again with an MCY 76 Skylounge. Like the its smaller sistership, the MCY 76 Skylounge has the builder’s signature high freeboard and overlaid circular hullside windows. Enclosing the flybridge adds interior volume, offers all-season cruising and creates an aft terrace. ¶ The main deck is broad like a penthouse suite. Hull No. 1 has bleached-oak woodwork, light fabrics and white overheads, which add to the salon’s open feel along with the 6-foot-8-inch headroom. VOLVO PENTA’S ASSISTED Docking System is a hybrid between manual and automated docking, allowing users to maneuver their boat precisely. ¶ To operate, Assisted Docking requires Volvo Penta’s Inboard Performance System and its GPS-based Dynamic Positioning System antenna. It also leverages a vessel’s steering, transmission and engine-control data. ¶ The operator provides heading and speed input via the IPS joystick, and Assisted Docking moves the boat in a straight line at the user’s dictated speed. 90'2" LENGTH OVERALL 45'9" MAXIMUM BEAM Alva Yachts has announced its Ocean Eco 90 power catamaran. The yacht is offered with an all-electric propulsion system or a hybrid diesel-electric setup. Power for the all-electric model is two 500 kW gearless electric drives and two 100-kilovolt-ampere DC generators. A hydrogen fuel cell with storage tanks is optional. The hybrid version has two 250 kW electric drives and two 611 hp diesel engines. The builder says cruise speed ranges from 8 to 10 knots with a top-end speed range of 15 to 16 knots. The yacht has about 2,152 square feet of solar-panel real estate that will reportedly generate 40 kilowatts-peak. BEFORE ARTHUR WIRTZ DIED in 1983, the owner of the Chicago Blackhawks and founder of the Wirtz Corporation made his final wishes clear to his family: Don’t sell Ivanhoe Farm, the family’s original land grant in Mundelein, Illinois, dating back to 1857. Don’t sell his wife’s 1961 Rolls-Royce. And don’t sell the boat. ¶ The boat is Blackhawk, a 123-foot Feadship launched in 1971. “I LOVE MY HARGRAVES BECAUSE OF ONE THING,” says a serial Hargrave owner on his third yacht. “Mike Joyce never says no.” ¶ Joyce is the CEO of Hargrave Custom Yachts, whose latest 105, Irresistible, exemplifies numerous ways the builder tailors its designs to what each owner wants. ¶ Irresistible, for instance, has a raised pilothouse, creating an all-weather backup to the flybridge helm. The bridge is open, but it’s shaded by the fiberglass hardtop, rather than having a sky lounge on board. That’s already a lot of personalization based on the starting point of a new Jack Sarin-designed hull that tops out at 21 knots and cruises at 18 knots.
