IT’S war between Dodo Monamedi, Independent Music Performance Rights Association (Impra) boss and music producer, Sello “Chicco” Twala.
At the heart of their fight is an advanced payment of R10 million by the SABC to Impra.
According to Chicco, the funds were paid to Impra two weeks ago, but have not been distributed to the artists.
Said Chicco: “The money was meant for artists and musicians for needle time royalties, but Impra decided to divert it to COVID-19 projects.”
In a damning letter, Chicco left no stones unturned, calling Dodo names and calling for his arrest.
“As per my open letter, the SABC released an advanced payment of R10m to Impra for needle time royalties,” he said.
