Long wait for justice as matters are adjourned
The families of two men who were killed, as well as a gunshot survivor, speak to Chanelle Lutchman about their anguish while waiting for the trials to begin • IN August 2018, Kidesh Ramjettan, 37, was standing outside his petrol station in Rossburgh, Durban, when he was shot.
Three months later, Ayanda Shezi, 36, Menziwa Mdaka, 26, and Zakhele Dubazane, 34, were arrested in Johannesburg.
Shezi, a contracted hit man, pleaded guilty during his first appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court. He told the court that he was hired to kill Ramjet-tan for R30 000.
He also told the court that he needed the money for his sister’s funeral and to support his four children. Shezi is currently serving a life sentence.…
