I still remember the day I first walked into the HGTV Magazine offices in February 2012. The walls were painted a happy cobalt blue, and the lobby resembled some stylish person’s living room, complete with a tufted sofa and a vase of flowers. The editors had patterned pillows on their chairs, and vintage-style lamps on their desks. Some even had throw rugs underneath their feet—it didn’t look like anywhere I’d worked before! I spent four amazing years here writing house tours and dreaming up DIY projects, then moved on to our sister publication, Food Network Magazine.
