Red Patches
Face redness often signals skin inflammation because of “conditions including rosacea, eczema and acne as well as irritations such as rashes, allergic reactions and sun damage,” says Pooja Rambhia, M.D., a dermatologist at UnionDerm in Greenwich, CT, and New York City.
FAST FIX Apply a green-tinted color corrector before makeup to neutralize red areas; top with a medium- to full-coverage foundation to even skin tone, says Carolina Gonzalez, a celebrity makeup artist in New York City.
CORRECT IT To help prevent and quell redness, opt for a gentle, fragrancefree cleanser and a barrier-repairing moisturizer with ceramides and anti-inflammatory ingredients (niacinamide, green tea, azelaic acid), Dr. Rambhia suggests. If you have chronic redness, see a dermatologist for treatment options, which include prescription topical skincare and specialized lasers.
