SANTIA DECK girlworks sat down for an interview with Santia Deck. Ms. Deck is the first black female-owner of the athletic shoe company TRONUS, and the first woman to enter into a professional full tackle football contract with a forthcoming American all female football league. Santia is known online as the 'queen of abs' and hosts her own TV talk show Queen of Abs Fitness. She also appeared in Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Ranch, and Blind Date. GIRLWORKS: Please tell us briefly about your youth, where you grew up, the importance of athletics in your life. Alma Deutscher (c) Helen Deutscher Alma Deutscher, born in England in 2005, is a composer, violinist and pianist. Her mother, Janie Steen, has a PhD in Old English poetry from Cambridge. Alma’s Israeli-born father, Guy Deutscher, is a mathematician with a PhD in linguistics from Cambridge. Alma’s sister Helen is 13, and appears often alongside Alma in videos. Helen is very talented in her own right, though she has not yet decided her passion. As a toddler Alma started to play violin, soon followed by piano. She quickly began composing - all of this before she was able to read or write. When her parents realized that the compositions were her own, they notated them until she was old enough to do it herself. At six, she completed her first…

women of greenland Arnarulunnguaq Arnarulunnguaq, (1896–1933), a native Greenlander, was a key member of the Fifth Thule Expedition (1921–1924) which crossed the Northwest Passage by dog sled. She was one of the two who accompanied Rasmussen from the Hudson Bay to Alaska, preparing meals and keeping skins and furs in order throughout the two-year journey. Among the Inuit chosen for the expedition were the hunter Iggiannguaq and his wife Arnarulunnguaq. Shortly before their departure, Iggiannguaq died of pneumonia but Arnarulunnguaq insisted on continuing. She was the first woman to complete the long Arctic journey from Greenland to the Pacific Ocean.
