From basketball to capoeira (Brazilian martial arts), Trudy had tried out all sorts of unusual sports. But in the end, after much trial and error, she fell in love with one that’s pretty straight down the line – hiking.
Coming from a big family of six, Trudy had always felt alienated. ‘I felt position-less in my family, and I often felt the same in the sports that I played. I tried many over the years, but the coaches often told me I needed to lose weight to become more competitive, which was disheartening.
