WHEN WAS THE last time you had an aha moment? I had a major one while interviewing cognitive health expert Dr. Nicole Anderson for this issue. As regular readers know, my mom passed away last year after battling Alzheimer’s. Throughout her life, she had done pretty much everything right in terms of mitigating her risk for the disease, so I had begun to wonder whether preventative measures—like remaining physically active and mentally engaged—were futile.
