Bleed your radiators to remove trapped air and ensure they heat evenly and efficiently. The only tool you need is the appropriate radiator key. (Find a guide on p86) Add reflective foil behind radiators to bounce heat back into the room. This is particularly effective on external walls. Seal draughts around windows, doors, and letterboxes using foam tape or draught excluders. Close curtains at dusk to keep the heat in – and consider thermal or lined curtains for even better insulation. Use radiator shelves to help direct warm air into the room instead of letting it rise straight to the ceiling. Rearrange furniture to keep it away from radiators so heat can circulate freely.
