‘The key to achieving a more spacious feel in your bathroom is having layered light that creates the illusion of space and airiness. Mixing ambient, task and accent lighting is key here, especially in bathrooms with limited natural light. A centrally positioned overhead light, or dispersed recessed spotlights, will provide even and bright illumination. Pastel perfection After getting itchy feet with the plain walls in our builders’ refurb home, I recently updated our downstairs toilet – my first small DIY project! I wanted a beachy feel as we live by the coast and the recent stripes trend has me hooked. The walls were already pastel pink, so I added the stripes with some leftover mint paint, for a stick of rock effect! All I needed to buy was an MDF border.
