Antiques expert Charles Hanson has been a regular on our TV screens since 2002, featuring on programmes such as ‘Bargain Hunt’, ‘Flog It!’ and ‘Antiques Road Trip’. An archetypal English gent with an eccentric air, he is known for his colourful wardrobe of striped blazers and his enthusiastic and excited reactions to discovering antique treasures.
He began his career as a valuer for Christie’s in 1999 and worked for other antiques businesses in Staffordshire and Cheshire before founding Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers, in Etwall, Derbyshire, in 2005. In recent years, he has grown the company, opening showrooms in the Normansfield Theatre, Teddington, London, and a grade II* listed Georgian mansion, Bishton Hall, in Staffordshire.
