Outside of my professional sailing career I often deliver motivational talks to businesses. A typically requested theme is leadership, with a focus on the parallels between performance in the work environment and performance within a sports team.
In many ways there are similarities and some of the techniques used to motivate, engage or lead people in a crew situation can transfer across to the workplace.
However, there are many aspects of our sport that differ from a typical work environment and are not so relatable.
