Lisa Blair has become first woman to sail solo around Antarctica below 45 degrees south. The 32-year-old Australian completed the 20,000 mile circumnavigation from Albany, Western Australia, in a total of 187 days, five hours and 52 minutes. She was at sea for a total of just 107 days, eight hours and 23 minutes but was forced to spend several weeks in South Africa, however, after her yacht was dismasted.
Lisa narrowly missed out on beating the overall record of 102 days, set by Russian sailor Fedor Konyukhov in 2008. She returned to Albany on 26 July, having re-crossed her track south of 45 degrees on 21 July.
