Nothing really slows down in our Holiday Season at AIM. We continue to create all of our wonderful magazines and enhance all of our ever growing online content with great enthusiasm. This is how 10 coins in 10 categories of competition became The COTY 100, these to be considered by an international panel of judges in the first round of voting in the 2023 Coin of the Year awards. To look up a show quickly by date alone, or if you first need to find out where a particular show will be held, use the Showdex section beginning on Page A16. Show dates and locations are sometimes changed at the last minute, so it’s best to call the promoter or show site before traveling a long distance. Is cleaning a coin ever a good thing? At one time the answer to this question would have been a solid “no.” It has become increasingly acceptable for a U.S. or other modern coin to be conserved by properly removing contaminants from the coin’s surface in a way that isn’t detectable. Since most people don’t have the knowledge to do this at home it is recommended any such conservation be done by an experienced dealer or third party service that specializes in conservation.
