Top zone:
Light bulky items work best at the top – consider packing down jackets, light snacks, fleeces and toiletries in this space.
Mid zone:
Pack your heaviest gear in the mid-pack to create a comfortable centre of gravity. Heaviest items should be placed as close to your back as possible. Consider packing the bulk of your food, cooking tools and liquids here.
Bottom zone:
Whether a separate compartment or integrated, the bottom zone is ideal for bulky gear you won’t need until day’s end, including your sleeping bag, mattress and camp clothes.
Lid:
Ideal for small, light items like bug spray, car keys, compass, snacks, sunglasses, phone or PLB.
Stretch front pockets:
Good for light items you need urgently or often, like your waterproof gear or sun hat.
