Actor Terence Stamp passed away on August 17 at the age of 87, his family has confirmed. The British-born actor was best known for playing villains, starring as General Zod in the Superman franchise in the late ’70s and early ’80s, and Thompson, who tried to keep Matt Damon and Emily Blunt’s characters apart, in 2011’s The Adjustment Bureau. Stamp also spent time Down Under, portraying a transgender woman in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 1994. “It was only when I got there, and got through the fear, that it became one of the great experiences of my whole career,” he told the British Film Institute of the role.
