On Friday, September 6, Sunrise reporter Edwina Bartholomew ended her usual news segment with a personal update. “It’s not great news, not a panda story to finish the bulletin,” she braced viewers before sharing a shock health diagnosis.
“I have been diagnosed with cancer … but it’s a really good kind. It’s called chronic myeloid leukaemia. So it can be treated with a daily tablet and if I take care of myself, I will be completely, absolutely fine,” she continued, before breaking down in tears.
