Oh, how times have changed! This week was a particularly special one for the team at WHO as it marked 28 years since its first issue hit the shelves with Murphy Brown star Candice Bergen on the cover. There are numerous arguments on what actually causes acne, however according to Elizabeth Fardon, Global Education Director for Ultraceuticals, it all comes down to the fluctuations in hormone levels in your life cycle. “Acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous (hair follicle and sebaceous gland), characterised by skin lesions on the face, chest and back,” explains Fardon. When androgenic (male) hormones increase in the body the skin can produce more sebum and in turn can form acne, she adds. The duo from The Katering Show and Get Krack!n’, Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, have only managed two episodes of this “intermittent” podcast so far, but those are filled with laugh-out-loud moments and outrageous (on the money) life observations.
