LOUISE HAY 1926-2017 The original self-help author Louise Hay died on Aug. 30 at her home in San Diego. She was 90. Hay’s 1984 book You Can Heal Your Life, which argued “almost anything can be healed” through the mind, became a bestseller and sparked the self-help movement. The book has now sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. In 1987, Hay founded publishing company Hay House, which published more of her books including Meditations to Heal Your Life. Hay was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 1977 and concluded it was caused by her resentment over being raped by a neighbour at age 5. She claimed she cured the cancer through her own methods.
