SANTA CRUISE RAISES £800 For the eighth year in a row the good people at VW Heritage encouraged friends and customers to take to the road dressed as Father Christmas, all in the name of charity. With suits on, and decorations adorning their VWs, the Christmassy convoy took them from Shoreham-by-Sea to Tadworth. The costs of the day itself, including the initial purchase of the Santa suits and stickers was covered by the VW Heritage Directors, so every penny on the day counted. This meant that the total raised by the 2017 Santa Cruise was an impressive £800, which will be donated directly to the charity Play Team and put towards activities and trips out for the Children. Be honest, who amongst us hasn’t found themselves sitting in their Bus on a campsite, looking at caravans with mildly envious eyes? Come on, even just once. I know I have. Not for their style, but for the living space and apparent ease of use, because let’s face it, they do seem a lot easier once they’re set up, don’t they? When you’ve been attending VW shows as long as we have, it can feel like you’re on a continuous loop. Visiting the same places and seeing the same ol’ faces and vehicles year in, year out. From Grandfather clocks, to shop fitting, to show-winning camping interiors, Rich Booth of Richard Booth Design has over 30 years experience as a bench hand joiner, and it really shows. Having been around the VW world since he first learned to drive, it was only a matter of time before a friend came calling, asking him to build an interior for his T5.
