Has anyone ever sent a nut into space? If so, what type was it? And if not, what type would it have been if they had?

In 1954, the USSR launched its short-lived ‘Soviet Space Nut’ scheme, which sent some walnuts on orbital space flights in order to determine whether larger fruits, such as pineapples or melons, could survive interstellar transit. The very first nut to leave the Earth’s gravitational field was a walnut named ‘Gretzky’ which was blasted into space on May 3rd 1955, reaching a geocentric orbit of 1,300 miles before burning up on re-entry.
