The iconic iMac, released in 1998, is widely regarded as the machine that saved Apple from bankruptcy. Its striking egg-shaped design in the translucent “Bondi Blue” colour was remarkably different from anything else on the market at the time. An instant fan favourite, it was soon available in five additional shades: red, orange, green, blue and purple. And the rest is tech history: the iMac went on to ship five-million units within a period of two years and eight months.
Now, 23 years later, Apple has again introduced the iMac in an array of rainbow colours – green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver – each of which comes bundled with a keyboard, trackpad and mouse in a corresponding shade.
