Vivid petals of pink and purple mingle with blossoms of bold orange and feathery sprays of white to form an extravagant floral display that seems to capture the unrivaled vibrancy of a summer garden. Created by artist Natasja Sadi, this breathtaking display might be composed of freshly picked flowers or lovingly crafted from sugar paste; her handwork is such perfection, it would be difficult to tell without close scrutiny. What is clear is that her affection for these botanical blessings, in all their kaleidoscopic glory, comes through in every design she creates. Photographer and writer Christine Chitnis speaks for many women who recognize that busy careers and family responsibilities often leave little time for exploring one’s leisure interests, as well as for furthering friendships formed in a business context. Through her work, she has made connections with several ladies in flower-related fields, whom she often works with and whose various talents she admires. The burgeoning camaraderie among the acquaintances has led to a wonderful concept. “We are all working all the time, so I had this idea,” explains Christine. “What if we just had ‘Creative Days’ where we all got together, with everyone contributing their special talents?” The purpose is off-the-clock respite, simply enjoying great company and learning a few arts and crafts–related skills at the same time.
