Interscope Records cofounder Jimmy Iovine has long championed new voices; his label’s early acts included unproven future stars like Tupac and No Doubt. More recently, he set his sights on the contemporary art market, acquiring works by living legends including Mark Grotjahn and Brice Marden. This year Iovine is merging his interests. In January, along with Interscope CEO John Janick and others, Iovine organized LACMA’s “Artists Inspired by Music: Interscope Reimagined,” in which 46 artists riffed on album covers: Kehinde Wiley painted Dr. Dre; Jenna Gribbon painted Lana Del Rey.
