Traditional French song made curious and strange
FRENCH musician Veronique Chalot was, by any standards, a mysterious character. Born in Le Havre, Normandy, she spent her adolescence in London, before returning to France and performing in Le Havre, Rouen and Paris; in 1974, she relocated to Florence, Italy. She recorded and released an album that year, Le Chanson De Provence Antiche Ballate Francesci, but Chalot is best known for her two sets for Italian label Materiali Sonori, both now to be reissued on compact disc.
