The Canadian singer, songwriter (painter, filmmaker, poet) BD Harrington was 32 before he released his first record. As befits a late bloomer, his writing process can be a laborious one.
“I tend to write on guitar, or piano, whatever one is around,” he says. “But the lyrics can take me a ridiculously, unhealthily long time. My degree was in creative writing and I wanted to be a writer before I wanted to be a musician, so I approach songwriting with that same type of discipline, with all the vim and vigour of a failed writer!”
