Nearly 40 years ago, Griff Rhys Jones first dipped his toe in the TV travelogue waters when he flew to Sudan to do some filming for Comic Relief. Since then, his subsequent small-screen sorties have taken the 71-year-old far and wide, to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and Burma, as well as Wales, where he was born.
Now, for his latest trip, Rhys Jones is travelling across America’s southern states, through Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina. And with both Nashville and New Orleans on the itinerary, there’s a strong musical flavour to the Welshman’s trip.
