The Great Wall of China is the starting point when the latest batch of brave adventurers strap on their backpacks to compete in BBC1’s Race Across the World.
As the five pairs negotiate an epic 14,000km trek across Asia without mobile phones, internet access, bank cards or flights, they have a budget of only £1,140 each, which they can supplement by taking jobs along the way.
But time is also against them, as they battle to become the first team to reach the final checkpoint in Kanniyakumari in southern India and win £20,000.
