Derek Hough is trading his dancing shoes for dishing out entertainment news. The Dancing With the Stars favorite, who competed on the ABC reality competition from 2007 to 2016 and then became a judge starting in 2020, was recently announced as the new host of Extra. He replaces Billy Bush. Hough’s tenure begins September 8 and ushers in a revamped season of the long-running syndicated entertainment news program. Executive producer Jeremy Spiegel told Variety that Hough’s duties will include interviewing his celebrity friends and giving viewers a behind-the-scenes peek at his various projects, including Dancing.
