TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FLY COLOUR, you first need to decide whether you want to copy the trout's food or provoke its curiosity and aggression, ie fish with an imitation or lure. If you choose to imitate what it's eating, selecting a fly and colour is much easier — you match the shape and colour of the food item. But if you need to trigger its inquisitiveness or aggression, picking a lure colour is dependent on several factors, such as the trout's mood, light conditions, and water temperature and clarity.
