Flies and tackle: Don’t worry too much about flies. Think red, orange (and fluorescents), Orkney peach, white, silver and pearl, and pretty much any combination thereof. These are tried-and-tested colours for Orkney. If fish see them, you’ll catch. Proven patterns include the Stenness Stinger, Platinum Blonde and Potty Palmer.
