To attract more rods and boost catch returns, several of its finest beats are offering free fishing on Saturday, August 31. You must book first – hurry, places are limited.
Permits will be issued for the following beats: Barjarg, Barndenoch, Blackwood, Buccleuch, Closeburn Castle, Dalswinton, Dumfries & Galloway AA, Dumfries & Galloway Council, and Rosehill. It’s fly-only, catch-and-release.
The idea follows the success of the free Nith Sea-trout Experience. This year, 34 rods took part on four Friday nights in May and June catching 21 sea-trout (including the bright fish below) four herling, 12 brown trout, one salmon and four grayling. Proof the fish are there to be caught.…
