1 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
The home of walking safaris, South Luangwa comprises diverse landscapes of grasslands, woodlands, gigantic baobabs, lagoons and rivers. Rich with wildlife, it is famous for frequent leopard sightings. Expect to also see elephant, wild dog, buffalo, lion, Thornicroft's giraffe, Cookson's wildebeest and others, and any number of the 400-plus bird species found here — with carmine bee-eater colonies a particular draw.
2 LUAMBE NATIONAL PARK
Situated between South and North Luangwa National Parks, Luambe has a variety of mammals, including elephant, lion, leopard and wild dog, and 200-plus species of birds, including (from September to October) nesting carmine bee-eaters.
