In completing a 122-mile Double Paddy Buckley Round in May, Nicky Spinks became not only the first person to do so, but also the first person to complete a trilogy of doubles on the UK’s three classic 24-hour fell-running rounds.
The 52-year-old cancer survivor already had the record for the Double Bob Graham Round (84 peaks, 132 miles, 54,000ft; 46hrs 36mins) and Double Charlie Ramsay Round (48 peaks, 116 miles, 57,000ft; 55hrs 56mins). To complete the hat-trick this year, the farmer traversed 122 miles, 94 peaks and covered 56,000ft of ascent (almost two Mount Everests from sea level) in Snowdonia, over a punishing 57 hours and 25 minutes.
