Pilates works to some pretty simple principles, which when put together create a perfect platform for any runner to work from. Some of the best runners in the world swear by it, and for more… er… mature athletes, it’s a must. Indeed, Nick Rose, one of the greatest runners in the 1970s, and still a world leader in masters distance running, says he owes much of his longevity to one session a week.
Put simply, Pilates helps with concentration, breathing, centring (working your core), alignment (helping with posture), relaxation, flow (range of motion) and endurance. Now, you can’t argue with that, can you?
