We have a new world’s fastest swimmer in the Women’s 50m freestyle, and she’s an Aussie! In August, 23-year-old Meg Harris from Wodonga, Victoria scored this achievement at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, with a time of 24.02 seconds. Wow! Meg won with her eyes closed – no, literally. In an interview after the race Meg explained, “I swim with my eyes closed. So, I had no idea where I was in the race, so when I turned around it was pretty shocking.” Meg is also partially deaf so she swam with limited hearing and without looking. She’s killing it! Tent twins I went camping one year for Christmas and my friends were there. We went to the pool, because it was really hot. I got kind of hungry, so I decided to go back to the campsite and get some food. I was about to go into the tent to get changed when someone came over out of nowhere asking what I was doing.
