An Austrian company is planning to brew beer made from human urine. Öklo, which sells and rents out environmentally friendly mobile composting lavatories, is creating a pilsner using urine harvested in its loos, stripped of ammonia and other chemicals, to publicise its waste-water treatment methods. Öklopisner, as it is punnily entitled, will conform to the German beer-purity law of 1516, allowing only malted barley, hops, yeast and water to be used.
