The Arnault succession
Le Monde reports that when Alexandre Arnault was born, his 14-year-old brother, Antoine, sent him a postcard. “Dear Alexandre, I hope your birth went well… I advise you to start working right away.” It might not have been entirely serious, said Hannah Bolland in The Daily Telegraph, “but it has proved prescient”. All five Arnault children have had to work hard to carve out roles at LVMH, the luxury group founded by Europe’s richest man, Bernard Arnault – resulting in “a kind of Kremlinology” among investors seeking to decipher who might take the crown.
