Cap Karoso Indonesia
A raft of new resorts have opened on the wild Indonesian island of Sumba in recent years. Among the freshest and most ambitious is Cap Karoso, a peaceful “sanctuary” at the island’s remote western tip, says Maria Shollenbarger in the Financial Times. Created by a Parisian couple, Evguenia and Fabrice Ivara, it sits beside a long, sandy beach, and has a spa, two restaurants, and its own three-hectare organic farm. The design is “sleek”, both in the main building, where there are 47 rooms, and in the villas – “single-storey havens” made of timber, glass and stone, with handmade furniture, infinity pools, terraces and outdoor kitchens with barbecue decks.
