Zara Lachlan, age 21, has become the first woman to row solo from Europe to South America. The UK athlete traveled 3,794 nautical miles (4,366 miles) from Lagos, Portugal, to Cayenne, French Guiana, in 97 days, 10 hours, and 20 minutes on a 24-foot boat. She rowed alone, averaging 17 hours a day, with no outside help. She is also the youngest woman to row any ocean solo, nonstop, and unsupported.
