Queen Elizabeth II’s love of corgis has been highlighted in recent days. She got her first corgi companion, Susan, at age 18. Over her lifetime, she raised dozens of Susan’s puppies and other dogs. Each had its own Christmas stocking.

After the queen’s death on September 8, a rainbow appeared over Windsor Castle, one of her homes, where people had gathered to honor her. About 20 miles away, in London, a double rainbow stretched over her official residence, Buckingham Palace, as a crowd sang “God Save the Queen.”
