There are lots of different chores that need doing around the home. These include washing the dishes, drying up, taking out the bins, emptying and stacking the dishwasher and laying the table for meals. According to the charity Parentkind, more than half of children under the age of 15 don’t do any of these household chores. Yet Jason Elsom, the head of Parentkind, believes that children benefit from doing age-appropriate chores. “Chores are not punishment; they are the first lessons in teamwork, responsibility and self-reliance,” he said. However, some people argue that children have lots of other things they need to do, such as homework, activities and clubs, which doesn’t leave much time for chores. What do you think?
