Electricity in Spain and Portugal has been restored following one of the worst power cuts in recent European history. The power cut, which began shortly after midday on 28 April, left tens of millions of people across the two countries without electricity.
It had a huge impact. Traffic lights stopped working, which caused traffic jams on many roads. In Barcelona, Spain, members of the public worked to guide traffic at junctions along Gran Via, a road that runs through the city. Trains came to a standstill, leaving some people stuck on them for hours, and some flights were cancelled.
