Hosting more than 2,200 young athletes from 48 countries, the recent Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) was an exciting sporting event. Held in the city of Banská Bystrica, in Slovakia, young people aged 13 to 18 took part in 10 sports. These included athletics, artistic gymnastics, basketball, cycling, swimming and tennis.
Great Britain’s team (Team GB) took 40 teenage athletes to the games. The youngest was 13-year-old swimmer Mabli Collyer from Carmarthenshire, Wales. Team GB won 18 medals at the EYOF, including seven gold medals.
