These are signs of spring’s arrival, promising the return of light, colour and warmth. Spring is nature’s reminder that no matter how dark or cold things might be, better days are around the corner.
What is hope?
“Hope is the knowledge that things can get better,” says the author Bernadette Russell. When she was writing her latest book, How to be Hopeful, Russell spoke to people who had overcome extremely difficult moments, such as firefighters who tackled wildfires in Australia. “The firefighter said, ‘If we don’t fight it, there’s no chance of it stopping,’” explains Russell.
