Timothy Long, who is 15 years old, has set off on a quest to become the youngest person to sail around Britain. On 16 July, he left Hamble Point Marina, near Southampton, England, embarking on a 1,600-mile solo journey that should take around two months. The record is currently held by Tom Webb, who was 17 years old when he sailed around Britain. Long, who started sailing when he was nine years old, told The Times newspaper that he wanted to do something that was going to push him. “So I thought, ‘why not sail around Britain?’” he said.
